An Open Letter
M.I.S.S.I.S.S.I.P.P.I. is an open letter from the perspective of a native Mississippian departing from my home state for graduate school and to pursue a career in corporate America. In the midst of this, I began reading African American autobiographies of numerous pioneers in history and realized I learned more about Mississippi than I ever did through my readings being away from home than I ever did while growing up there.
